PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST OF FAITH: SEEDS

From Pastor John Collins, Evangelist:

Bitterness creeps up on you, guard your heart~
Pastor John Collins

“Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.” Hebrews 12:14-15 (NKJV).

Bitterness is something that we must be on guard against and we must have complete honesty with ourselves if we are to monitor our hearts so that we can repent if we find ourselves gone astray. Bitterness will creep up on you and it is easy to allow to happen. We like to think of ourselves as deserving the best and we become very offended when others hurt us, reject us and when we perceive that we have not received our ‘due’.

We must be careful to find the balance of self-worth and humility. Sometimes people just don’t think things through with faith. Do you deserve health, happiness, wealth, love, respect, honor, recognition or to walk through this life without hurt? Does the Bible promise that? What about Lazarus? What about our dear Lord Jesus Christ who not only died on the Cross for us but was rejected, told he had a demon, was cursed and taunted, beaten and tormented and forced to carry his own instrument of death?

God does not want us to hurt but there must be a desire for God inside of us and we must come to recognize His lessons and His love. There will be seeds planted in our hearts; seeds of love, anger, hate, joy, bitterness, forgiveness and the list just goes on and is replenished regularly. We must make the choice about which seeds we choose to water and which seeds we choose to pluck out.

We are the children of God and we have Jesus. This world is evil and has no hold upon us. Our home is in heaven and if this is what we know then we should act like it. Remember that we are not promised a blissful life on earth but we are promised that blissful life in heaven, but you have to get there first.

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper;I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” Hebrews 13:5-6 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST OF FAITH: SEASONS

From John  Collins Ministries:

“Thus says the Lord: ‘Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the might man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, excercising lovingkindness, judgment and        righteousness in the earth.  For in these I delight,’ says the Lord.” Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NKJV).

Give and take life

A kind person with a kind heart will do kind things for others. Mercy and compassion will drive a person to be considerate of others and to take the time to help others out. Thoughtfulness comes in so many different ways. It can be helping out a friend to move, getting groceries for an elderly neighbor, helping someone change a tire, giving a few dollars to the homeless or it could be taking the time to hear out your son or daughter which will give them the confidence in your relationship to learn to act with maturity and transparency.

Jesus has said that we should love one another. He gave us perfect examples for doing so. What happens when we deny another the opportunity to help us when it is our time? Our pride can stand in the way of our path to heaven. To everything there is a season and time. As we go through life, we will not always be in a position of helping others. We will come to a time or times in our lives when we should be accepting the help of others. You see, this is important in our faith. God will bring people into our lives that will further the faith of both parties. Sometimes you are the helper and sometimes you are the helped.

“Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem  In the sight of God and man.” Proverbs 3:3-4 (NKJV).

Testing Faith

Each of us cannot stand alone. We were never meant to. It is a give and take in this life. We need to learn to be compassionate and kind as well as learn to be accepting of that same compassion and kindness when we need to. Our bodies are deteriorating all of the time. You cannot expect a 70 year old woman to move her household furniture by herself. She has passed the age of being able to do so.

The Levites that took care of the tabernacle did so from the ages of 30-50 years. Their strength was greatest during these years and their service was limited to that time. There are seasons in all of our lives of physical strength and those seasons do pass. Do not let your pride deny others of their opportunity to serve God by helping you. Do not lean too heavily in either direction so that you do not become a burden nor defensive.

This is true for all aspects of our lives. We will go through situations in our lives that will bring us low and sting our pride. We will go through times of being lifted up that will challenge our egos and tempt our pride. Both sides of this coin is needed to test our faith and teach us the ways of God. We must be able to become humble. It is not worth it to hang on to your ego or to cling to your stubborn pride. Be done with it and let it go because it will never serve you well. In order to enter the kingdom of heaven we must allow God to stomp our pride in the dirt. Be willing to welcome that huge piece of humble pie. Gobble it up and ask for more!

“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” Romans 12:3 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST OF FAITH: THE BATTLE WITHIN

FROM JOHN COLLINS MINISTRIES:

Enjoy life, but do it in a godly way
Pastor John Collins

Pastor John Collins writes:

“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lords’; But the earth He has given to the children of men.” Psalm 115:16 (NKJV).

God has given you life and you need to enjoy it. As you walk the path that leads to righteousness, you will face many situations that make you realize that it is a battle not just outside in the world and with those you encounter but also within yourself. God wants you to fight the good fight. God wants you to seek to please Him and to do the right thing in life. Be charitable, be good, be kind, be forgiving, be loving and compassionate toward others. As you go about doing these things you will have to battle your own demons. We all have them. We all think of the easy path, the shortcut and the darker temptations in life and it is that battle that you must encounter each day.

So, what are you fighting for? Is it just to get to heaven? That narrow focus can make a person crazy, burn out or just give up. If you cannot see that life has meaning, that you can enjoy life then it is easy to lose your way and fall off the path of the faithful. You have to take the time to live, to feel really alive and to acknowledge that your life is a blessing for all of the struggle. What makes you feel alive? Is it standing in the rain, walking on a beach, riding on a four-wheeler in your swimsuit in the middle of winter surrounded by snow, or maybe it’s a candlelight dinner with your most special someone followed by a dance? Whatever gives you pause and delights your soul is what you should take the time to do. It does not have to be often and it does not have to be so planned that the moment gets lost but you should be looking for those moments in your life that become the memories that you prize. You will take those with you because they belong to you forever.

In your day to day life you may feel run down and overwhelmed with the mundane. In your day to day life you may become discouraged. You need to allow yourself those special moments where you catch your breath and you even need to make the effort to recognize the moments that you have already had and seek out more. That is what you are fighting for in your faith. You see, heaven is full of joy and people who feel that intense awareness of love and hope and happiness every day. You will never truly seek to become a righteous person if you don’t believe in that promise and in order to truly believe in the promise you need to trust and believe in God. It is easy to believe in the truth of God when you can glimpse joy in its perfection in experiences in your life that touch your soul and become engraved on your heart. That is a blessing from God and you should never underestimate His greatness and your connection to Him.

“May the Lord give you increase more and more, you and your children.  May you be blessed by the Lord who made heaven and earth.” Psalm 115:14-15 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST OF FAITH: OLD TESTAMENT RELEVANCE

From Pastor John Collins, Evangelist:

Non Jews are the "graft" of the salvation of Jesus,
salvation is for all, do not take it for granted.
Pastor John Collins, John Collins Ministries

Do not take your faith or your salvation for granted.  The Old Testament in the Holy Bible gives detailed history of the struggles and failures of the Jewish people in their faith and obedience to God.  God brought Jesus Christ to teach and show the Jews, the chosen people, the right way of worship and obedience, and still the Jewish people failed.  The beauty of Jesus Christ, salvation and the hope in God has been shown to those who are not Jews, with the same gifts of hope from God.  Do not take it for granted, as Pastor John Collins of John Collins Ministries writes.

“You will say then, ‘Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.’  Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear.  For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either.” Romans 11:19-21 (NKJV).

Why is the Old Testament relevant? It is there to teach you how God deals with His people. As believers in Jesus Christ, you must know what is expected of you in your relationship with God and in order to know this you are to become knowledgeable in how He dealt with the Jews who are the natural branches of the olive tree, while you are of the wild olive tree.

There is a need to recognize the mistakes that the Jewish people made in their relationship with God so that you do not make the same ones. Do not become overconfident in your faith but always maintain reverence and awe in your contemplation of the Lord. Do not become too caught up in making money and gaining financial success that you forget the basics of your faith. Do not forget to tend to your heart and mind daily and to pray your way through life.

There are just too many people that do not put in any real effort or consistent effort toward getting into heaven but just assume that they are going there. Don’t take Jesus for granted but work your butt off to do as He has told you to do.

Never walk through life with any conceit because you know that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life and you believe in Him but have humility and pity for those that have yet to come to that knowledge and be willing to live a life that shines for Jesus so that others may come to the cross because of you.

“Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.” Romans 11:22 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST OF FAITH: WORTHY

From John Collins Ministries:

“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” 1 Timothy 1:15 (NKJV).

Okay, so you have sinned, A LOT!! At what point do you give up and believe that you are not savable? At what point do you believe that God would not forgive you, that only the devil will have you and that you are not worth saving anyway? This is more common than you may think. As many as justify their sin and take Jesus for granted, there are just as many who don’t bother to call on Jesus because deep down they don’t believe that they are worthy of walking the streets of heaven and living in eternal bliss.

Satan has done his work well. He has planted doubts and he has spread so many lies that many have come to believe that they are truth. God is not a cruel dictator in the sky and Jesus wants to forgive you and died for you before you even knew that you needed Him. God is merciful and compassionate and has forgiven the murderer in David, the whore in Solomon, the rebellion in Jonah, the persecutor of the church in Paul, the doubter in Thomas not to mention the sins in the twelve sons of Jacob and He is willing to forgive your sins too.

God is waiting for you to recognize your worth to Him and for you to honor that worth by believing in Him and His Son. The Christian must believe that they are worthy of forgiveness and work to submit to the will of God and to obey the commandments of Christ. It is important that your hope be true and your commitment to living the gospel be complete. You are not supposed to live in sin and just not care and you are not meant to give up on yourself because God does not want to give up on you.

You matter and the proof that you matter was given on the cross while Jesus gave His last breath for you. The Lord says that you matter so do not give up on you and do not give in to the devil.

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, EVANGELIST: SACRIFICE

There are so many ways that you can give to God and live
your faith without buying in to the prosperity message,
Pastor John Collins

“God does not want your dollars but your heart, faith, and prayers and to save your soul through the sacrifice that He provided.”~Pastor John Collins, John Collins Ministries

Pastor John Collins writes:

“For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” Hosea 6:6 (NKJV).

Before Jesus came to this world, lived, preached, taught, suffered, died on a cross and arose again, there was the temple and the Levitical system that had all of God’s people bringing sacrifices to the Lord. Jesus became the true sacrifice for which the shadow had been cast and the lessons of what the sacrifices had been for was cast in order to teach the people of the Lord what was required to cover the sins of mankind. There were different kinds of sacrifices and different costs for them which came at a heavy price and burden to some and easily and casually to others. The temple system became corrupted by greedy men in power who used God to further their own finances which is generally what men have done with religion since the beginning of time. It is evident today with all of the prosperity preachers out there persuading the believers to give and give and give, financially of course.

Yet, what does God want from you? God cannot benefit from your money. God does not want your dollars but your heart, faith, and prayers and to save your soul through the sacrifice that He provided. Prosperity preachers are a disgrace and will not see heaven. Before you consider tithing at any time in your life, consider what you may offer to God. Could you devote time daily to reading the bible, pray more for conviction in your soul, or could you increase your faith and commit to walking in your faith confidently and include your family? Do you teach your children that the most important thing in life is success or making it to heaven? What is it that you could offer to God that is not money at all but is the currency of heaven? God wants forgiveness and love to open hearts to each other. God wants us to be kind to each other and not spiteful. Our children should not be bullied or bullies and we should not be gossips without morals. There are so many ways that you can give to God and live your faith without buying in to the prosperity message.

Jesus said to go and sin no more. We have been forgiven if we ask for it and we have been given salvation from on High. This world is filled with souls that are stained with sin and apathy. We should be seeking His will in our lives as we go through the motions of our jobs, education, socialization and relationships. Do not think that giving money to greedy churches and people endears you to God. It is time to see through the hypocrisy of the actors who fill the pulpits and see them for the blind guides that they truly are. Get a Bible and pick it up, read it and learn from it. Let your own heart guide your instructions from God. Seek Him and not those who would use him to line their own pockets.

“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation.” Matthew 23:13-14 (NKJV).

PASTOR JOHN COLLINS, HOPE: SAVING FAITH

Pastor John Collins: Do all.

“The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.
But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.” Acts 3:13-16 (NKJV).

Peter spoke these words to the witnesses of the miracle of a lame man becoming whole. He spoke to clarify where the miracle came from; not from himself or John but from Jesus Christ and the faith in Him. This was just one of many miracles that took place in the name of Christ among the apostles and those whom they encountered in order to spread the truth of the gospel and the power of Jesus as the Son of God. Miracles sometimes go unnoticed today and too often they are invented in order to gain influence and wealth among those who would believe in Jesus.

Jesus always said that your faith has made you whole. It is our faith that can bring healing if it is the will of God, our faith that will fill us with the strength of Christ and our faith that will lead us to righteousness if we allow our faith to be our main priority in our lives. I believe that faith in general has diminished among people. I believe that those that have strong faith today would be considered among those of weak faith in the time of Jesus and the preaching of the apostles.

People just don’t fear God as they should anymore. Back then people were more conscious of God and His power. People were more aware of the impact that their actions had on their lives because they knew that God was paying attention to them. We no longer believe that God is paying attention nor do we believe whole-heartedly that He will intervene in our lives directly. Oh, we say we do, but it is obvious in our lack of obedience that we do not fear any real repercussions from God. We have Jesus, right? He has paid the price for all of our sins, past, present and future, right? That is an arrogant way to believe.

Jesus does offer salvation to us for free. Yet, He Himself has demanded that we repent, sin no more and that we obey His commandments. He also said for us to fear Him who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell. Do we take Him seriously and adjust our behavior accordingly or are we just banking on that price being paid and going about our lives with evil hearts and evil minds acting in evil ways and speaking evil words? Think about the standard that is set by Jesus? Think about the requirements of our faith. We cannot just say that we believe. We must believe so strongly that we are moved to change our ways. Remember the young man who was obedient to the law and yet was told by Jesus to sell all and give to the poor and follow when asked what he must do to have eternal life. We cannot do some. We must do all. If you are not doing all that the Lord has commanded you cannot be assured of claiming the salvation He offers.

Begin again by coming to truly fear God. Renew your faith by refocusing your priorities in life. Claim your salvation by a belief that is so strong you know that nothing else in your life matters in comparison. That is saving faith. Know that no matter what amount of faith and obedience you have today, you can always and should always seek more.

“If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’” Acts 4:9-11 (NKJV).
